5 ways to be more lunge-like in 2016

Well it's that time of year again when we set our goals for the year ahead. We think about how we could be better and what we should be doing and how we should be doing it...

And it's all a bit heavy isn't it?

I try really hard to not buy into the 'should be doing this' 'could be doing more of that' culture society puts on us but I can't say I always escape it.

So this year in a kind of ironic way given what I just said... I'm going to pick the 5 things I really should be doing if I am to live by the mantra of The Daily Lunge... of not feeling shoulds or coulds, but unplugging, exploring and educating... best foot forward now!

Here they are as a suggestion if you too want to have a more lunge-like life!

1. Take more photographs

I already take a ton. But as I've told you before, when I have a camera in my hand I do more, see more and search more... and so I endeavour to take my camera with me everywhere I go and a few fresh films in the bottom of my bag, just in case. You never know when there will be a great adventure to document!

2. Don't take your phone to bed

I have been trying to do this for ages but I'm addicted to checking Instagram before I go to sleep. Usually this has no effect on my sleeping... but does mean I lose that valuable time when I should be reading great books about art or business or Uzbekistan- coz that's way more Lunge!

Don't worry- I'll still be all over the Instagram- but I'll be doing it in business hours.

3. Go on loads of mini breaks

More adventures! More. More. More!

I am super lucky that I get to travel with my work- which, don't get me wrong, is basically the greatest thing in the world... but it's still work. I don't get to explore and adventure the way I want to.

So, this year with Europe as my back garden I plan to make use of my favourite thing on the internet...  Kayak's Explore page. And go nuts- only a backpack and my camera and someone to talk to if I'm lucky!

4. Don't forget London

While I'm on this whole more adventures thing, I think I'd do well to remember that I live in one of the most culturally rich places on Earth and now is the time to start soaking that up.

So expect lots more posts on where to eat, what to do and how to get the most out of the ciiiiitay! Adventure time in the back garden indeed!

5. Read more indie magazines

Bit of a random one I guess. But I recently started reading a few new magazines on topics I'd never normally read about- and it was so great! I had a billion new ideas and learnt loads of stuff.

I think sometimes as a creative you get sucked into only knowing about the thing you know about... and that can't be a good thing for your creative inspiration you know! So as soon as I finish this post I am going to head over to Stack- a website that delivers you a sparkly new indie mag every month for like £6!

Also- dunno if you know- I'm launching an online mag in March, so gots to brush up on what's about! It's been delayed a bit this year... but 2016 is ours for the taking!

Let me know what your resolutions are.. big, small, lungey or not- good luck!
