I went to see The Lobster on a whim the other day... one of those middle of Friday afternoon, indulgence visits... I had seen the trailer ages ago and thought it looked my kind of weird and wonderful and boy did it not disappoint.
It was one of the weirdest films I've seen in a long time. It was so charmingly bizarre and obscure that I had a constant smirk on my face. It was utterly compelling.
Collin Farrell is mint in it... and it's great seeing him with a bit of a dad-bod for a change. Great supporting cast too. Ashley Jensen is hilarious, as usual, and has a particularly raw, horrendous/hilarious scene that really stuck with me- she is so awesome!
Editing wise... there is some great use of slow-mo set to an excellent score that makes for some great theatrical scenes that play on the absurdity of it all. Lovely colour too.
Go see it. That is all.
